Ravenswood Pump Station and Connecting Pipeline

Project Information

The Water Corporation is committed to sustaining Western Australia’s water future.

This State’s next major water source will be the Southern Seawater Desalination Plant, planned for Taranto Road, north of Binningup, in the Shire of Harvey.

To ensure effective and efficient distribution of water from this new source, a pump station needs to be built at Ravenswood. The Station will pump up to 120 million litres of water daily from the Stirling Trunk Main to the Tamworth Reservoir, and 160 million litres of water each day to Serpentine or North Dandalup Dam via a new, connecting pipeline.

Ravenswood Pump Station will be constructed on Water Corporation owned land at Lot 9000, Old Mandurah Road. The connecting pipeline will cross private, adjoining property.

Over the coming months, the Water Corporation will be planning for and designing the pump station and pipeline. This will involve negotiating with landowners directly affected by the proposed pipeline route and liaising with the Shire of Murray and other government agencies to meet and obtain the necessary approvals.

Building of the pump station is expected to commence in the summer of 2008/2009 and to be completed by the summer of 2010. Pipeline works are likely to begin in late 2009 and to be finished by May 2010.
